Choosing to do therapy is a big decision and it shows that you have an inherent desire to grow and process what challenges you.  You and I have the opportunity to create a relationship that meets your need for support and it is my hope that your time with me will be productive and meaningful.

Our first session will focus on your concerns with a little bit of your history and lived experience. This will give me a good idea of what direction we are headed in together. Therapy can be many different things, but generally we will focus on building resiliency for current stressors and awareness of the past. We will process traumas as they arise and learn to have compassion for the parts you may not always love. All in all, by the end of our work you should feel like you understand yourself better and are equipped to sustainably respond to life’s challenges.

Therapy involves a large commitment of time, money and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select.  If we choose to move forward together, I will usually schedule one 55-minute session per week at a time we agree on, although we can decide on a different frequency if your situation calls for it.  Also, it is my legal responsibility to acknowledge my own limits and if I believe that I am not qualified to provide you the support that you need, I will discuss this with you and ultimately suggest other therapists that may be a better fit.
